Food Pantry
Today Mom and I worked in the food pantry. As I was looking at the choices the "consumer" could make I thought if given the right decisions they could easily eat for 2 or more weeks. If they chose things like: a bag of dry beans, a bag of rice, 14 oz can of salmon vs 5 oz can of vienna sausages. The way ours works is they can get (according to number in family)a certain number of in each food group. I was A GROUP. The Hispanics (and excuse me of being racist, but if you're illegal why are you eligible for a food pantry?)tended to get the most bang for the buck - the dry beans, rice, and canned goods that would go the furtherest. About 25% of the patrons smelled of cigerette smoke which also makes you question giving them food if they can afford smokes.
Fortunately for the patrons I don't set the rules. I guess I also need to quit being so judgemental. I think this is an attitide I acquired from my father; at least I don't blurt it out to everybody within earshot.
