New View

Kent has decided that since the tree in June started a landscaping project he would finish it. Much against my wishes he has decided to take out all the cedar trees that previously blocked our southern view. For now, we can see directly into Mom and Daddy's yard. He has promised that he will replant evergreens back into that area before winter. We will see.

He had tied all the brush/slash into bundles and was dragging them out to the street when city workers came by and threw the two he had out on the curb into their truck. That filled up their load but they just came back and took all the rest of it away. The wind storm from two weeks ago has helped out as under normal circumstances your plant debris is your responsibility.

Treasures from the past

When Kent has been home lately he has been doing cleanup work on the bushes next to the garage where the limb came down in June. He has accumulated a pile of old toys that got stuffed into the bushes over the years. Oh the memories!

We get to see number 2 child on Sunday for the Colts game. Number one has journeyed via a pass to see the boyfriend in Lansing. And Mom and Dad are suppose to be coming back down tomorrow.

YIKES! IT'S IKE!

What was left if Ike blew through our area yesterday wrecking havoc on powerlines and trees. Schools are out in the whole area, leaving kids with nothing to do - no computers, tv or video games. They can't even go to the park as it is also closed, due to many trees down making it an unsafe place to play.

The dogs and I rode it out but I paced like Mom does in electrical storms. I couldn't figure out the best place to be in case one of our trees came down. We had sustained winds of 37mph and gusts to 50mph. There is a weather station at the Middle School which collected that information before they lost their power early in the afternoon.

Our digital camera is at the farm, so the above were taken with my camera phone. Two of them are from just down the street from us, one is from the park.

Seven years later

Kent spent last night in New York City just like he did on the night of September 10th, 2001.  This time his plane left NYC on time first thing this morning.  Seven years ago he and his copilot were standing in line for Regis and Kelly tickets.  It was his copilot's first time in the city and he wanted to go on the World Tower tour.  Kent convinced him that the show was a better idea as the Tower tours happened pretty much everyday and of course the broadcast didn't.  Thank God that he is a tv junkie and always is trying to get into tapings of shows.  He has seen some of the strangest shows!
