Working at the Boy Scout Camp

Kent got called to do a work day at the local Boy Scout Camp. Our wind storm from a week ago had done some damage to several trees and adult leaders with chain saws were called in to take care of most of it. They took care of all but one righteously bad-ss tree, it being so tall and so close to a high power line that they wisely decided to let the professionals handle it.
This decision was made by three people, 2 of whom did not yet know that a local man had been taken off life support the evening before, having been hurt in a tree incident a couple days ago. He was struck in the face by a limb that snapped back after a cut and sustained severe brain damage

Close Escape

Mark, Debbi, Mom and Dad are having a blizzard as I write this. We will probably get ice and snow later today, but right now we are "just" having wind. Wind with gusts to 50mph. And today is garbage day. When I went out at 6:30 to get the papers I saw that our cans were blown over and one lid was off. I righted them and put the lid back on, twisting it down and putting the clamp on it. About 20 minutes later Kent went out and he noticed that the cans were down, one lid was gone and the other was laying in the street. After breakfast I fastened up Dusty and took her for a walk and to look for the lid. After a circuitous walk to the fence lines downwind of us, I found it and returned home. Meanwhile Kent had gotten off the phone and misunderstanding where I was walking, he had taken Lucy to the park. They walked along the reservoir and came down the closest steps and started home. He heard a creaking sound, looked behind him and bam! down came the top of a tree about 15 feet behind him. A close call in deed. I just looked at the pictures and they didn't load in the correct order, darn it all. And oh BTW, Rabbit, Rabbit!
